Neurodiversity in Manual Therapy – Touch That Doesn’t Overwhelm
An increasing number of manual therapy clients are people with atypical sensory sensitivity – on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, or highly sensitive. Their bodies experience sensations differently: touch can be soothing, but it can also trigger tension, overwhelm, or shutdown. Their way of communicating may differ from what we are used to. Understanding this different perspective becomes the key to building a trust-based relationship.
In this lecture, you will learn how to ensure comfort, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness when a neuroatypical person visits your practice. This is a meeting with otherness – not to diagnose it, but to support it with attentiveness and respect.
